About Sylvie May
What do you like most about giving readings to clients?
I enjoy giving readings, as I like making friends and helping people. I believe that most people find today’s world so impersonal, so the time I give is so important. I hope I have a good ‘listening ear’ and to be able to give proof of life after death is for most people very comforting. It is important that people can accept that although they have lost a loved one. They really are only ‘a whisper away’ Sometimes people want a hint of the future, they want to know whether they are on the right path or not, maybe there is a choice of actions they can take. The thing is I can’t tell people what to do that is their choice. But very often a reading will clear their head because they have hope, and maybe they can see a pattern, and their life then takes on some meaning and it is easier for them to make their own choices and to move forward.
How would you say you are typical of your star sign?
My star sign is Gemini, but as my birthday is the 22nd I am on the cusp, and I believe that I have many Taurean characteristics as well as those you would associate with being a Gemini. I have many interests, and tend to get bored easily. So maybe a ‘jack of all trades’ is more accurate, if you were to describe me. However my Taurean qualities is evident when I describe my career in the health service.. I have worked in Mental Health Care and the care of the elderly, especially those who suffer with Dementia. This I feel passionately about. I want so much more for the patients that I deal with, it is not just a case of more money, but nurses and carers who are truly dedicated. There is so much to be learnt from this job, it enriches and fulfils. I am retiring at the end of this year but I have so many happy memories.
When do you remember being first aware of your gift?
As a child I was aware of spirit. I think, if truth be told, I made my family a little wary of me.
I knew before they did that a member of family had passed. Of course I told them and it made me feel quite happy, because the person who had passed was quite content. It was strange, my family was obviously upset. It took me a little while to understand this. Of course this was in the days of the dreaded telegram, and sure enough it would arrive in the next couple of days. My poor family! As I grew older I learnt to control myself and learnt to be a little more diplomatic. I don’t think if I am honest, I really understood what was happening in those days. I used to daydream for hours, and love the places and the ‘people’ I visited. Was I talking to spirit then? The answer is I don’t really know. I only know that I have never seen such beautiful places such enchantment, and magic. The people too were there, and yet not there. I just knew by my feeling, or the smell of a perfume or a tobacco. Or it may have been a feeling of love that felt like a blanket around me. Sometimes I could see the faces, and I grew to know them. I saw them nearly every night. I can remember saying to my Mother that I wanted to go to bed as it was chapter 2/3/ or whatever. Of course now I realise that it was my guides who were with me constantly.
What is your most memorable experience with a client?
I think all clients are important and therefore memorable. Probably the question would be more accurately answered if I were to explain what made me feel ‘good’ about a reading and that the client was also satisfied. I think it’s when you first meet a client, and maybe they are tense, upset or depressed. Maybe they are sceptical, but at the back of their mind they have a lingering hope. Then to give a reading, and to see the tension fade, the tears of relief and for people to leave you with content is a really great feeling. I may not have answered all their questions, but I have started them on the path of spiritual discovery
What other experiences or qualifications do you have that you feel compliment your work as a reader?
I have been involved in nursing all my life. First as a trained nurse. I then moved into training, not only nurses but carers as well. This was a real challenge, but so rewarding as I began to see young people who had no qualifications move into their nursing careers. I also was involved in counselling services for young people. So I always have been a people person and feel that I have enjoyed the opportunities that life has given me. I have always been interested in Spiritualism, and have belonged to a circle for the last few years to develop my mediumship. I work at psychic Fayres and also conduct Church Services. I enjoy this so much and welcome this opportunity to wok more for spirit
What is the most important thing for a person to consider when they decide to have a psychic reading?
That they are comfortable. I don’t mean physically, but that they feel at ease, and understand what a reading involves. It should be explained what happens during the reading, so that they are sure that they wish to go ahead. They should be aware that they will not be given advice on health or possible prognosis, rather it is a guide from spirit showing the possible paths in front of the individual. Choice should still be there, but now a pattern can be seen. It is up to the individual whether they want to change the pattern or create something new? The reader may introduce a loved one from spirit, who also wants to help the enquirer, in their quest for answers. Those seeking a reading should be sure in their mind that this is what they want and feel that a good reading would help them. They must also feel confidant and comfortable with the reader to gain a satisfactory reading.
