About Watersigner

I have been drawn to the tarot and the mystical parts of life since I was about 10 but was unable to learn or practice any of it until I reached my early 40s. At that time, I went through tremendous loss and had to start all over again, and this allowed me to adopt the spiritual path. I have studied the tarot keenly since 2010, with a variety of teachers, courses and books and I read it intuitively. I use it as part of my daily life and have ambitions to write about it to share my knowledge with others.

What do you like most about giving readings to clients?

I absolutely love doing tarot work with others, because it's in my nature to want to help others and to do things from an honest and compassionate place from within my being. A tarot reading can give empowerment, reassurance or guidance and the cards - if you enter into the spirit of doing it properly - will almost always deliver good guidance. One of the great things about tarot is you can have a good source of advice even if you don't have a friend in the world. That's a very powerful thought and it's an amazing tool to help others to be their best, or to help them cope, or to help them find a way forward. It's a rare person in life who never needed advice, and a rare person who has never found themselves alone with a problem that they can't share with someone else. Being trusted as tarot reader to explore a problem is a great honour.

How would you say you are typical of your star sign?

Writing in her eponymous book "Sun Signs", Linda Goodman say that 'people automatically confide their secrets to the crab' and it's so true! I have always been a very good listener and demonstrated a good understanding of people and their struggles. The Cancerian nature is very sensitive, intuitive, and compassionate which is invaluable in delivering tarot guidance as well as when listening to others. I have Sagittarius rising as well, and that's a sign that likes to explore the broader aspects of life, especially topics like mysticism and spirituality. I also love being near the sea which is another typical Cancerian attribute.

When do you remember being first aware of your gift?

I was drawn to the sphere of tarot when I was a child, but I only became aware of any abilities when I was a teenager and would often come out with things quite randomly that came true. I came to study the cards in mid-life after my own life went through a very traumatic and transformative period, and that point various psychics and tarotists told me that I could do this work. I have now been doing it for over 12 years and have never looked back.

What is your most memorable experience with a client?

There have been quite a few on different levels and with different reading formats. Distance readings can be very interesting to do when you're not seeing someone in front of you and can work amazingly well. I can remember going out on a limb in an email reading with some rather unconventional interpretations and was astonished to have feedback that showed it was a most powerful and empowering reading once the client had assimilated it. That was especially enjoyable because it reflected the tarot working at its best - firing the intuition very deeply.

What other experiences or qualifications do you have that you feel compliment your work as a reader?

I've had many years' experience of listening to people on the telephone when they have been going through difficult times or when their inner light has been burning low. I have a great passion for numbers and like to use numerology sometimes to enrich and help my tarot readings. Similarly with astrological traits, although I am not formally trained in astrology. I also have oracle decks and occasionally draw a card from those to support readings, but not often. I am also mindful of the power of prayer and my relationships with my spirit guides, both of which have been instrumental in my tarot work since day one of learning it formally.

What is the most important thing for a person to consider when they decide to have a psychic reading?

As any other reader will advise, keep your mind nice and open. Be a willing participant in your reading so that it becomes a fruitful discussion that benefits you rather than being disbelieving, defensive or dismissive. It's especially important with tarot readings to approach the cards with respect and trust and to enter into it with the right frame of mind. Choose your tarot reader by making sure it's someone you feel comfortable with and that you feel drawn to. That way you have a much greater chance of your energies aligning constructively and getting a better result out of it. It's a lot easier in life to go with the flow of energy than to work against it!
