Tarot has been an important part of my life for almost four decades! I got my first deck at 18 years old and since then they've never let me down. As an intuitive and clairsentient reader I love the way tarot helps us connect to our higher selves and always gives patient, compassionate guidance whenever we need it. As a mum and a mature student I studied psychology at university, worked two jobs and gave readings to everyone who came to me. After graduation I became a teacher and an author, yet I always kept my relationship with tarot and now have quite a collection of beautiful decks. Over the years I've read every book on tarot I could get my hands on. As well as that, I've found my intuitive understanding of spreads and card meanings has improved with practice and experience.
What do you like most about giving readings to clients?
The thing I love most about giving readings to clients is the gentle yet powerful connection which tarot creates while the reading is in progress. There is the connection between the client and the cards, between myself and the cards, as well as between client and reader. I'm always really excited to discover whatever is right for the client at that moment in time, as well as what choices they might make going forwards. And I'm always humbled by the messages clients receive from the cards via their own higher consciousness as together we search for a compassionate solution to any issue the questioner wishes to know more about.
How would you say you are typical of your star sign?
I'm a Taurus, and my house is full of plants. I love to spend time pottering in the garden, cooking delicious [vegan] food and enjoying time with my family. I walk on the beach and visit the nearby forest a lot too. Everywhere I go I take a deck of cards and love to give readings to friends in the woods or in a local cafe. It's important for me to spend a lot of time in nature since I'm an earth sign and need to be outdoors to nourish my soul. I'm also quite creative and I sew bags for my ever-growing tarot card collection by hand. On top of that I write romance novels, as well as non-fiction books about writing - we Taurus types are grounded yet romantic types.
When do you remember being first aware of your gift?
As I child I would often have pre-cognitive dreams and would experience conversations or events before they happened. On top of this I was told at the age of eleven that I always seemed to know what those around me were really feeling however hard they tried to hide it. When I was twelve one of my grandmothers died and my uncles told me that they believed she was also very empathic and possibly a healer.
What is your most memorable experience with a client?
The woman who had been searching for a way to move forward for many years recently made a breakthrough during a reading I did for her. Whenever she phones me now she tells me how that one reading changed her life and has made it possible for her to gain a new perspective on everything.
What other experiences or qualifications do you have that you feel compliment your work as a reader?
For many years I've taught creative writing to adult learners. This experience has helped me to connect with people in a very meaningful way, especially when I've helped students to write autobiography or family history. This kind of work requires sensitivity and a grounded feeling because creative writing often brings up a lot of shadows from the unconscious mind. Our past history can contain regret and loss as well as happy memories, and writing about our lives will bring up both types of memories and many, many emotions. Also, as an author I've had to shine a light on a lot of my own shadows as they've emerged whilst working on a novel.
What is the most important thing for a person to consider when they decide to have a psychic reading?
In my opinion it really helps if a person considers what area of their life they want to focus on during a reading. A good question can make such a difference and often I'll help a querent to find the question by doing a 'question' reading before we dive deeper.
