The way the world seemed to be, & what was taught in schools never made sense to me. What did make sense was the hidden, spiritual realms. When I followed my intuition, pathways opened in myriad ways. I had little 'education' until much later in life. Previously, I worked in care & support roles from my late teens for around 12 years, prior to engaging in deep research during my Quest for over 20 years, where I studied a wide range of esoteric subjects with extensive reading. During the Quest, in 2005 I began learning to read Tarot. In 2009 I did a short course in Reiki & Crystal Healing. In 2010 I studied Egyptology at Birkbeck University. for 1 year before spending 8 years studying, training & practicing Art, Design, Fashion Textiles & Hand Embroidery, gaining several qualifications in London colleges. I also taught in Community Arts with a wide spectrum of students & worked at Stitches in Time, Limehouse. As much as I loved being an artist, I felt hugely undervalued & dreamed of being a Tarot Reader. My artworks incorporated spiritual themes as it was always calling me & I knew I could make more of a difference with helping others, so I returned to Tarot, only this time it was to do it professionally, hence, I studied for a Level 3 Diploma in Tarot gaining a Distinction (grade 95%). This is one of the best decisions I ever made- I absolutely love my work as a Tarot Reader - it was there calling me all along.
What do you like most about giving readings to clients?
The most satisfying aspect of providing readings to clients is seeing a weight lift from them after the reading & knowing how much Tarot has helped them see their way forward to make positive changes in their life. It's an honour to be able to help others via readings. I feel the energy change throughout the reading & how pleased people are about deciding to follow their intuition by having the reading that they were guided to have. It's wonderful when clients who are unfamiliar with esoteric knowledge see how much it can benefit them & they begin a new magical pathway of their own as it opens avenues previously undiscovered or dismissed. Tarot is (among other spiritual methods of reading) an incredibly valuable tool for divination which clients soon learn after their reading. It is a joy to see clients begin their healing journey after having a reading.
How would you say you are typical of your star sign?
Aquarians are freedom loving visionaries who see the bigger picture. Our analytical minds that seek mental stimulation ensure they cover many topics. They are humanitarian, progressive, deep thinkers who are friendly, unique and rebellious- not for the sake of it, but to make positive changes in order to break free of tyrannical, in-just situations so we can live in a better world. Aquarius are friendly, honest and known for their direct communication & problem solving- they are always happy to help. I am so typically Aquarian, having all of these traits. However, there are many other aspects to our Astrological facets, being our Moon & Ascendant signs, other planets in our signs e.g. I have Venus in Pisces, Mars in Aries etc, Being of the Air Element, I am alert, perceptive, objective & quick thinking with the ability to rationalize complicated & abstract subjects/themes. Clear communication is innate. Aquarians are adept at working out dilemmas, seeing all sides of the story with their fair-minded, rational thinking. Aquarius is the 11th House in Astrology, which is the area of life dealing with culture, speculation, understanding people & idealism. Some call this the 'bird's nest' which deals with the dreams, wishes & aspirations of others. As an Aquarian who has followed her dreams against the odds, I am living proof of the need to do this & encourage it wisely. 11th house is also extended community & humanity where we consider the all, everyone & everything.
When do you remember being first aware of your gift?
During childhood, I knew I was 'different' from others and knew things before they happened. I always felt like I had been here before & was highly intuitive. I would ask the 'big questions' about life from a very early age & naturally predicted events that have unfolded. I remember my neighbour who was a Clairvoyant Medium (unbeknown to me at the time) asking me questions about spirit as she knew I sensed them. I was never taught about such matters, yet I just knew that our ancestors & spirit live on, are with us still & that we have many lives. I recall seeing Tarot cards on Tales of the Unexpected when I was around 7 years old & was glued to the screen (when I should have been in bed as it was on late at night for a child)- I felt like 'I knew them' & when I began working with them it felt so natural, as does all the esoteric studies I engage in- akin to rediscovering the past in order to make a better future.
What is your most memorable experience with a client?
Being an Aquarian with a broad mind & experience repertoire, it is difficult to pinpoint one single client, however, the most memorable experiences are the ones where people need to release themselves from situations that deep down, they already know are limiting or hurting them. Tarot has an uncanny way of revealing this as its function is to guide us, e.g. Many clients who have been suffering from narcissistic abuse have come to me for readings because they are in pain & want a better life. When the cards clearly show this to them, they are faced with a choice of whether to take their power back or to continue allowing the abuser to have power over them via fear. Tarot helps us face our fears & take action to honour ourselves. Other memorable experiences with clients include those who are going through a major positive awakening & the ones who have said how much their lives have changed for the better since the reading.
What other experiences or qualifications do you have that you feel compliment your work as a reader?
I experienced a very difficult life in the past, yet by learning through it, was able to overcome the challenges & transform negative situations into positive ones. When life throws hard times upon us, it also provides us with opportunities to learn & grow from experience which strengthens our knowledge, character & multi-faceted self, making us more resilient, resourceful, stronger and wiser. Aside from my previous careers in Care, The Arts & Community Arts, throughout my life, people have shared their difficulties with me- whether I know them or not, am walking down the street or on the bus, people sense that I will listen without judgement (& offer guidance where appropriate). I hold a Level 3 Diploma in Tarot at Distinction grade (95%) & am currently studying Astrology & ongoing Spiritual Development. with many other esoteric courses lined up. I constantly research to add to my knowledge which I pass onto others who seek it.
What is the most important thing for a person to consider when they decide to have a psychic reading?
In my humble opinion, I would suggest that if someone is considering having a reading, to ask themselves if they really want to know the answers they seek & are they ready to face situations? Tarot is a multi-dimensional, wise old sage that can often reveal underlying issues which is one of the reasons it is so wonderful & powerful. It guides us to help us help ourselves, navigate our way through life, solve problems, overcome challenges & develop the self in positive ways. I don't consider Tarot as 'fortune telling'. It offers guidance & insight via its archetypes, numerical, colour, energetic and astrological values that if we work with, can achieve amazing results in shaping our futures. The future is not set in stone primarily, we are our own architects of our inner & outer worlds.
