Why Getting What You Want May Not Be Good For You

We’ve all longed and yearned for something (or someone) that we convinced ourselves was right for us. You may have wanted something so bad that it was all consuming for a while. There’s also a high probability that your desire never manifested, and before long you completely forgot all about it. Instead, you simply got on with your life and the Universe eventually delivered something much better instead.

Reasons To Be Cheerful

Every experience teaches you something valuable about yourself. This includes things that you thought you wanted, stuff you lost and opportunities you missed out on. Dreams and desires that actually manifested may have been pleasurable to have for a while, but are generally quickly replaced by new hopes and wishes that you’d like to manifest next.

Although it may not feel like it at the time, sometimes not getting what you want is actually a stroke of luck. If you always got whatever you wanted, you’d soon tire of the novelty of instant manifestation and know exactly what to expect. Where’s the fun in that? Not getting something you set your heart on gives you an opportunity to rethink and redefine your wish list, so that it is perfect for the perfect version of you.

Dream Manifestation

Imagination is a wild, wonderful and equally dangerous thing. When you imagine your perfect reality it is easy to get lost in a make-believe fantasy world. Unfortunately our desires are often not as picture perfect, as we had imagined, when they manifest. No matter how many hours you spent daydreaming about your dream job, your reality may include a demanding boss, endless overtime and little in the way of actual job satisfaction. Missing out on a job like that is no great hardship, when you accept that the Universe stepped in and saved you, by giving the job to someone else.

If you enjoy daydreaming turn your focus to dreaming about an improved version of you. Giving yourself a personal upgrade allows the Universe to line up things, people and opportunities that perfectly match your new positive, high energy vibration.

Roll With It

When things don’t go to plan it can be easy to become discouraged, angry and frustrated. You may have been rejected by a lover, overlooked for promotion, or missed out on a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity. Learning to roll with life’s punches makes you stronger, more resilient and resourceful. Shifting your perspective and attitude also helps you quickly see the positive in any seemingly negative situation. You don’t always get what you want because there is something much better waiting for you. However, in order to receive this you first have to realize your good fortune. Roll with it and experience the rough and the smooth. When you finally meet your soul mate you’ll thank your lucky stars that the other lover wasn’t delivered to you.

The Attitude Of Gratitude

Gratitude is a funny thing. The more you have of it, the greater your enjoyment of life. Giving thanks for all those things that you wished for, but never received, is a great way of showing appreciation for everything. When you are grateful for your experiences, good and bad, life is simply happier and more rewarding. Gratitude also makes you less self-centered, reduces the desire for materialism and increases your levels of optimism and self-esteem.

When you don’t always get what you want you easily accept there is something better just around the corner.
