Meet Ophiuchus - The 13th Star Sign

What is Ophiuchus? What Ophiuchus personality traits are there? What are the new star sign `dates? We answer all of this and more in this Ophiuchus-filled blog.

Ophiuchus constellation

There’s been a lot of talk about a new star sign recently, which Nasa identified a couple of years ago. NASA had identified a long-forgotten zodiac sign known as Ophiuchus which in turn changed the dates of all the other star signs. This Zodiac sign falls between November 29th and December 17th and has a knock-on effect for everyone else. For example, Pisces is currently February 19th to March 20th, but could potentially actually be March 11th to April 18th. Many were confused. Many didn’t want to believe it. Many still don’t and want to stick to their original sign. We here at Psychic Sofa respect your decision on Ophiuchus either way. But what is Ophiuchus? What Ophiuchus personality traits are there? What are the new star sign dates? We answer all of this and more in this Ophiuchus-filled blog.

What Is Ophiuchus?

The Zodiac’s origins date back to 2500 years ago, when the Babylonians divided the sky into 12 sections, which coincide with the 12 calendar months. Relationships between the constellation placements in the sky and their movement around the sun were studied along with the 12 calendar months and so star signs were born. Astrological signs are determined by the sun’s position in relation to a constellation on your day of birth, but the night sky has moved around so much since the Babylonians first came up with the Zodiac signs, that Ophiuchus is now part of the parcel.

The shifting dates have meant that the new 13th Zodiac sign rests between Scorpio and Sagittarius so that every other sign’s dates have moved to make way for it. The sun is aligned with Ophiuchus for about 18 days each year, making it shorter than the typical 30 day period.

The constellation, which comes from Greek words meaning “serpent bearing” is commonly represented by a man wrestling a snake. To the Greeks, Ophiuchus represented the god Apollo struggling with the snake that guarded the Oracle of Delphi at her temple. In more modern interpretations, Apollo’s struggle with the serpent represents humans wrestling to gain access to higher truths, to answer questions about mortality and spirituality.

Ophiuchus Personality Traits

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ophiuchus shares traits with both Scorpio and Sagittarius. Ophiuchus people dislike routines and are always up for trying new things with like-minded people.

They constantly search for new experiences and are known to be one of the most intellectual signs - their thirst for knowledge is unquenchable. More than this, Ophiuchus are always ethical and have a keen sense of justice between what is right and wrong. They are passionate and likeable, and are always up for a challenge when the time calls for it.

On the other hand, they can be impulsive, jealous and procrastinate at times, but when they get back in the game, they sure know how to play it.
